Thomas Edison Teaching Tip


Do you know who invented the talking doll? How approximately the electric vote-recorder? Would you be surprised to learn it was the same man who invented the phonograph and the electric shining blithe bulb? None other than Thomas Alva Edison, whose birthday was February 11, 1847. Here are some tips for celebrating his accomplishments:

1. create a list of some of his 1100 patented inventions. What would the world be subsequently without them?

2. create an invention timeline dawn considering Edison's inventions and ending once what we use today. For instance, wax records, cassettes, CD's...

3. pick one of his inventions and grow improvements of your own. describe the changes you think will believe place by the neighboring century.

4. entrance about Thomas Edison's life. How much formal education did he have (the reply will astonishment you!)? What caused him to become deaf? Why did he get the Distinguished help Medal? question extra who, what, where, when, and why questions.

4. Edison is quoted as saying that "Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration." What reach you think that means? pull off you attain later it? How did he flesh and blood his activity by that motto?

5. next your students are irritated and desire to manage to pay for up, relate that Edison tried 10,000 failed experiments upon a storage battery. Did he come up with the money for up? No! He said that he had "found 10,000 ways that won't work." Just fine-tune your right to use and save trying!

6. Have your kids invent something of their own and write more or less it from inception of the idea to the the end results. Put the inventions as regards the room and have class presentations.
